1K to 1L is a social initiative founded to systematically increase access to investment know-how, tools, and resources for marginalized communities across India. The project’s name captures its core thesis: sustainable wealth creation does not require a large starting corpus: it requires the right knowledge and discipline to grow even a modest sum (1,000 rupees) into something substantially larger (1,00,000 rupees) over time. We believe that anyone can become an investor, regardless of their starting point. The project operates through a multi-pronged approach, combining educational guides, expert-led training, and practical disbursement schemes to give individuals the confidence to enter the world of finance.
Ultimately, the initiative seeks to shift the cultural narrative around money in underserved communities: from one of scarcity and survival to one of agency and strategic growth. By embedding financial literacy into the educational and social infrastructure of partner organisations, 1K to 1L hopes to create a lasting multiplier effect, where each informed individual, in turn, educates family members and peers, gradually normalising investment as a routine life practice rather than an exclusive privilege.
